Mark Eastwood, MP for Dewsbury has received a number of questions relating to the recent panic buying that has seen shelves stripped bare of everything from soap and cleaning products to tinned food and toilet paper.
The Government announced on 18th February, thousands of pounds of support including grants, council tax relief and business rate relief for people and businesses in areas affected by flooding.
Firstly, I would like to send my best wishes to everyone affected by the flooding of the recent week and those who are threatened by the weather to come. I have visited local communities affected and I know there is a lot of work going on to help prepare for potential flooding.
Mark Eastwood MP is encouraging charities and good causes across Dewsbury, Mirfield, Kirkburton and Denby Dale to apply for up to £20,000 of funding from one of three grant-giving trusts, funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Mark took a quick break from campaigning today to meet up with Conservative candidate for Denbydale, Tim Bamford, where they discussed genuine concerns about the increased flood risk in the area if the development of 190 houses in Skelmanthorpe is given the green light by Kirklees Council.
